To The Thessalonians B
Chapter
1
Paul
and Silvanus and Timothy to the church of the Thessalonians in God
our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: 2 Grace be to you and peace
from God the Father and The Lord Jesus Christ.
3 We ought to
always give thanks to God concerning you, brothers, as it is meet,
because your faith grows exceedingly and the love of each one of you
all to one another increases, 4 so that we ourselves boast in you in
the churches of God for your endurance and faith in all your
persecutions and afflictions which you endure, 5 a plain token of the
just judgment of God, so that you may be accounted worthy of the
kingdom of God, on behalf of which you indeed suffer, 6 since it is a
just thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you, 7
and rest with us to you who are afflicted, at the revelation of the
Lord Jesus from heaven with his powerful angels 8 in flaming fire,
giving full vengeance to the ones who do not know God and to those
who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus, 9 who will pay the
penalty of
eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of
his strength, 10 whenever he comes to be glorified in his saints and
to be admired in all the ones who have believed (because our
testimony to you was believed) in that day. 11 For which indeed we
always pray concerning you, in order that our God may deem you worthy
of his calling and may fulfill in power every good pleasure of
goodness and work of faith, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may
be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our
God and Lord Jesus Christ.
Chapter
2
Now
we request you, brothers, by the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ
and the
gathering together of us to him, 2 you to not be quickly shaken from
your mind nor to be disturbed, neither through a spirit, nor through
speech, nor through an epistle as if through us, as that the day of
the Lord is come. 3 May no one deceive you in any way; because that
day will not come
unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness is
revealed, the son of perdition, 4 the one who sets himself against
and exalts himself over everything that is called God or object of
worship, so as to seat himself in the shrine of God, showing himself
that he is a god. 5 Do you not remember that when I was yet with you
I used to tell these things to you? 6 And now you know the thing that
restrains him,
so that he is to be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of
lawlessness already operates; only there is one who restrains just
now until it comes out of our midst. 8 And then the lawless one will
be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will destroy by the spirit of his
mouth and bring to nothing by the outshining of his presence, 9 of
whom the presence is according to the operation of Satan with all
power and signs and lying wonders 10 and with all deceit of
unrighteousness in the ones who are perishing, because they did not
receive the love of the truth so that they would be saved. 11 And
therefore God sends to them an operation of error so that they would
believe the lie, 12 in order that all those may be judged who have
not believed the truth but have had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13
But we ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers who have
been loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruit to
salvation by spiritual sanctification and true faith, 14 to which he
also called you through our gospel, to obtainment of the glory of our
Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers, stand, and hold the
traditions which you were taught, either through speech or through
our epistle. 16 And may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our
Father, the one who has loved us and has given eternal comfort and a
good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts and confirm you
in every good work and word.
Chapter
3
Finally,
brothers, pray concerning us, in order that the word of The Lord may
run and be glorified as indeed it
is
with you, 2 and that we may be delivered from perverse and evil men;
for not all men are of the faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who
will confirm you and will guard you from the evil one. 4 And we
are persuaded in the lord concerning you, that what things we charge
you both do and will do. 5 And may the Lord direct your hearts into
the love of God and into the waiting for Christ.
6 Now we charge
you, brothers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you draw
back from every brother who walks idly and not according to the
tradition which you received from us. 7 For you yourselves know how
you should imitate us, because we were not idle among you, 8 nor did
we eat bread as a gift from anyone, but by labor and struggle by
night and by day we worked so as to not be a burden to anyone of you;
9 not that we do not have authority, but in order that we might give
ourselves as an example to you for you
to imitate us. 10 For even when we were with you, we charged you
this, that if anyone does not want to work, neither let him eat. 11
For we hear of some who walk among you idly, working nothing but
working round; 12 and to such we charge and exhort in the Lord Jesus
Christ that working with quietness they may eat their bread. 13 And
you, brothers, do not lose heart doing good. 14 And if anyone does
not obey our word through this epistle, mark this man, to not mix
with him, in order that he may be put to shame; 15 and yet do not
deem him as an enemy, but admonish as a brother. 16 And may the Lord
of peace himself give to you his peace always in every way. The
Lord be with you all.
17 The greeting by my hand, of Paul, which
is a sign in every epistle; this is how I write. 18 The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
